Simon Bowers

Simon Bowers is a Senior Lecturer in Radiotherapy and Oncology at the University of the West of England, affiliated with the Department of Allied Health Professions. With over 10 years of clinical experience as a Therapy Radiographer, he serves as Therapeutic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship Programme Lead and Admissions Lead for both undergraduate and apprenticeship radiotherapy programmes.

His qualifications include:

• BSc (Hons)
• PGCERT HE (Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education)

He holds Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Specializing in advanced radiotherapy techniques, his expertise spans Gamma Knife radiosurgery, patient immobilisation/mould room processes, and VERT simulation. His international work includes delivering IAEA-sponsored staff training in Namibia and Zimbabwe, conducting radiotherapy programme audits in Tanzania and Zambia for the AFRA project, and serving as a Fly-in Scholar for teaching in Singapore.

As an educator, he shapes radiotherapy training standards through degree apprenticeships and undergraduate programmes while advancing global radiotherapy practices via international collaborations and quality assurance initiatives.
