Silvia Remeseiro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Medical and Translational Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University. She also holds an affiliated position as a Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine Fellow and leads her research group at the Umeå Center for Molecular Medicine (UCMM).
- PhD (2012) from the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), Madrid, Spain
- Marie Curie/EIPOD Fellow (2013-2019)
- Researcher at EMBL Heidelberg (2013-2016) and Institut Pasteur Paris (2016-2019)
Her research focuses on elucidating the interplay between long-range gene regulation and 3D chromatin organization in Glioblastoma, the most aggressive primary brain tumor in adults. She pioneered studies on structural perturbations in the genome affecting promoter-enhancer communication and transcriptional dynamics in cancer contexts, and her lab now maps the enhancer landscape and promoter-enhancer interactome in glioblastoma.
- Marie Curie/EIPOD Postdoctoral Fellowship
- Wallenberg Molecular Medicine Fellowship
- Recipient of SEK 8 million grant (2019) for cancer research
- New Cancer Fund grant for glioblastoma studies
Her work bridges genomic architecture with transcriptional regulation in cancer development, leveraging her expertise from training at top institutions including CNIO, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, EMBL, and Institut Pasteur. She continues to advance understanding of chromatin dynamics in glioblastoma through her lab at UCMM.
