She completed post-doctoral research at LUISS Guido Carli and held Visiting Scholar positions at Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and Thomas Jefferson University.
Profili's research centers on Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior with specialized focus on age diversity dynamics and chronic illness inclusion. Her work examines how HR practices influence employee engagement among vulnerable groups, exploring organizational citizenship behavior through age lenses and line managers' roles in workplace accommodations. She investigates intersectional challenges where aging workforce issues meet chronic health conditions.
Analysis of her 2020-2024 publications reveals dominant research streams on chronic illness workplace integration (7 articles) and age diversity implications (5 articles), primarily published in Human Relations, Employee Relations, and European Management Journal. Her methodology combines quantitative analysis of HR practice bundles with qualitative investigations of implementation barriers, consistently emphasizing practical organizational applications.
Profili co-founded and chaired the Human Resource Management Track at the European Academy of Management (2014-2022) and serves as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Manpower. She leads the MaCro@Work Caring Program research-intervention project with Enel, developing evidence-based inclusion strategies for chronically ill employees while directing the Sustainable HRM Master's program that trains practitioners in these methodologies.
