Silvia Marchesan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Trieste, Italy. She is actively involved in academic governance as a member of the Head's Office, Executive Board, Department's Board, and Doctoral Studies Boards. Her research focuses on Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanotechnologies, particularly heterochiral peptide self-assembly and its applications in nanomaterials.
She leads and participates in multidisciplinary projects such as "Chirality determines the programmed lifetime of out-of-equilibrium gels" and "Short Heterochiral Assembling peptides that Zip into smart AntiMicrobials," emphasizing biomimetic and electroconductive hydrogels for medical applications. Her work intersects with green chemistry and sustainable technologies, including collaborations on nanohybrid photocatalysts and environmental risk mitigation.
The Marchesan Group investigates the synthesis and reactivity of organic compounds and biomolecules, with applications in drug design and supramolecular systems. She maintains active roles in doctoral program committees (e.g., PHD03 - CHEMISTRY, Cycles XXXIII, XXXVI, XXXVII, XXXVIII) and contributes to institutional initiatives like the Ecosistema Innovazione iNEST project.
