Professor Silvia Bigliazzi is a Full Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona, specializing in English Literature (ANGL-01/A). She serves as Director of the SKENÈ. Theatre and Drama Studies Research Centre and leads Digital Humanities projects at the university. Her academic leadership extends to editorial roles with several prestigious publications including Global Shakespeare Inverted (Arden Shakespeare), Skenè. Journal of Theatre and Drama Studies, and Anglica.
Professor Bigliazzi's research focuses on Shakespeare and early modern English theatre with particular attention to intersections with Classical and European drama. Her scholarly interests span Elizabethan and Jacobean poetry (including sonnet-writing and metaphysical poetry), scepticism and paradox culture, interart studies, translation and performance studies, narratology, semiotics of theatre, and literary theory. She has made significant contributions to digital humanities applications in literary studies.
Her research has been recognized through prestigious fellowships at New York University (2017-2019), Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge (2022), and All Souls College at the University of Oxford (2022). She has led numerous research projects including SENS: Shakespeare's Narrative Sources, PerformAbility, and PRIN 2017: Classical Receptions in Early Modern English Drama.

Professor Bigliazzi teaches across multiple degree programs at the University of Verona, including undergraduate and graduate courses in English literature with specializations in Shakespeare, publishing, and digital culture. She also supervises PhD candidates and contributes to professional master's programs. Her office is located in Palazzo di Lingue, Floor 1, Room 1.07, with regular office hours on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
