Katharine Goodland is a Professor at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York (CUNY). Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Shakespeare, medieval and early modern culture, Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama, and World Drama spanning from the Greeks to the present. She is actively engaged in academic work intersecting Medieval and Renaissance Drama, metaphysical poetry, constructions of race and gender in English Literature, Trauma theory, and Affect studies.
Her scholarly contributions include the monograph Female Mourning and Tragedy in Medieval and Renaissance English Drama (Ashgate, 2006) and co-editing the two-volume Directory of Shakespeare in Performance in North America, 1970–2005 (Palgrave, 2007 and 2011). Her research has appeared in journals such as Early Theatre, The Journal of Religion and the Arts, and SB: A Journal of Performance, as well as edited collections on mourning and gender in the Renaissance. She has also worked as a dramaturge at Shakespeare and Company (Lenox, MA) and Bedlam Theatre (New York, NY).
