Silvana R. Siddali is a Professor of History at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on 19th-century American political and constitutional history, with particular attention to slavery, civil war era dynamics, and regional governance. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1999), an Ed.M. from Harvard's Graduate School of Education (1989), and a B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art (1984).
Her major publications include Frontier Democracy: Constitutional Conventions in the Old Northwest (2015) and From Property to Person: Slavery and the Confiscation Acts, 1861-1862 (2005). Her edited volume Missouri's War: The Civil War in Documents (2009) provides primary source insights into regional experiences.
Her research has been supported by numerous grants including the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend (2003) and the Missouri Humanities Council's Distinguished Achievement Award (2011). Her work bridges legal, political, and social dimensions of American history through meticulous archival analysis.
