معرفی
Prof. Silke Wieprecht is a leading academic in hydraulic engineering and water resources management at the University of Stuttgart, serving as Head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management and Vice Rector for Diversity and Internationalization. She holds a PhD from the University of Federal Armed Forces Munich and has over 30 years of experience in research, education, and international collaboration. Her expertise spans sediment transport, river morphology, ecohydraulics, and sustainable water resource management. Prof. Wieprecht has led numerous international research projects and chairs key committees like the DWA steering committee for Hydraulic Engineering and Hydropower. She has received prestigious awards for her research and teaching, including the 2019 Qian Ning Prize and multiple teaching excellence awards from the University of Stuttgart.
Her research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to address global challenges in sediment management and climate change impacts. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, developed novel methodologies for sediment erosion detection (e.g., PHOTOSED), and pioneered the use of Bayesian calibration in sediment transport modeling. Prof. Wieprecht actively contributes to international associations such as IAHR and WASER, promoting global collaboration in hydro-environmental research.
Key achievements include advancing understanding of biofilm-induced sediment stability, developing habitat models for fish conservation (CASiMiR), and leading the CHARM project on reservoir management sustainability. She oversees the International Master’s Program WAREM and has coordinated student exchange programs between Stuttgart and Cardiff University. Her work bridges engineering, ecology, and policy to ensure resilient water systems in the face of environmental and societal changes.
