Prof. Silke Weidner is Chair of Urban Management at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Her research focuses on urban resilience, heritage policy, and socio-political dimensions of urban transformation. She actively participates in international academic forums, such as the ACHS conference, where she addressed strategies for reintegrating historic city centers (e.g., Tabriz Bazaar, Iran) into modern cities. She contributed to the Canal: Walking the Post-Industrial Lachine Canal project (2013), exploring post-industrial urban redevelopment. Prof. Weidner also engages in debates on critical heritage studies, cultural contestation, and the role of heritage in social change.
Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, emphasizing community-driven approaches to urban management. She has moderated sessions on heritage governance and co-organized events like the 'Cultural Contestation: Politics and Governance of Heritage.'
