Prof. Silke Beck is a Full Professor of Sociology of Science and Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Chair of Sociology of Science and Technology since 2022. She holds a Magistra Artium in Political Science and Germanistik from the University of Heidelberg (1985–1996) and a Dr.rer.soc. in Sociology from Bielefeld University (1996–2000). Her research focuses on science-society interfaces, particularly global environmental assessments like the IPCC and IPBES, governance of socio-technical transformations, and evidence-based environmental policy.

- Key Projects: Lead expert for IPBES Transformative Change Assessment, steering committees for DFG climate engineering programs, advisory roles in Norway and Sweden on negative emissions technologies.
Her work bridges science and policy, emphasizing participatory approaches and critical analysis of global environmental governance.
