معرفی
Dr. Sihan Li serves as a Senior Lecturer in Climate Science within the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield's School of Geography and Planning. Her research focuses on high-resolution climate modeling and multi-hazard risk assessment under changing climatic conditions.
Education:
- PhD in Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences from Oregon State University (2017)
- Research Associate position at University of Oxford
- Senior Research Associate at University of Oxford for hydrological modeling projects
Dr. Li specializes in fine-scale regional climate modeling at convection-permitting scales, with emphasis on multi-hazard risk chains, land-hydrology-climate interactions, and extreme event attribution. Her work integrates machine learning applications for seasonal forecasting and examines climate change impacts on wildfires, glacial systems, and hydrological extremes. Current projects include Deplete and Retreat (Andean Water Towers), Sajag-Nepal (mountain hazard preparedness), ASLIP (Brazilian landslide impacts), and World Weather Attribution initiatives.
Scientific Contributions:
- World Weather Attribution initiative member
- Sajag-Nepal international partnership lead
- Multiple high-impact attribution studies on global extreme events
Dr. Li actively supervises graduate research and teaches modules including The Science of Environmental Change, Current Issues in Polar and Alpine Science, and Managing Climate Change. Her work bridges climate science with humanitarian applications through partnerships with disaster response organizations.
