Assoc. Prof. Dr. med. Signe Tomsone is a prominent academic at Rīga Stradiņš University, serving as Dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation and Director of the Study Programme in Rehabilitation. With over 15 years of experience, she leads research projects and teaches in areas connecting environmental adaptation and assistive technologies to healthy ageing.

Research Interests:
Dr. Tomsone focuses on active and healthy ageing from a life-course perspective, examining how older adults adapt to environmental changes. Her work emphasizes home-environment interactions, functioning evaluation, and assistive technology integration. Notably, she developed the Academic Master's Programme in Rehabilitation and teaches courses like Gerontology and Geriatrics and Research Methods in Rehabilitation.

Her 15 most recent articles (2013-2019) explore topics spanning chronic disease impacts, smart furniture development, and maximal strength training for cancer patients. Key projects include leading Latvia's participation in the COST Action CA16226 and coordinating the SHARE Wave 7 study in Latvia.
