Siegfried Specht

Prof. Siegfried Specht is an Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since 1993, affiliated with the TUM School of Natural Sciences. He previously served as the Chairman of the Consortium Council at the Schneefernerhaus Environmental Research Station until 2015 and was the Head of the Department for Technical Environmental Protection at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment, Health, and Consumer Protection. His expertise spans environmental chemistry and radiochemistry, with a focus on bacterial genetics and microbiology, particularly in dairy-related microbial challenges.

His research interests include environmental chemistry, radiochemistry, and the study of bacterial proteomes, overlapping genes, and their implications in microbiological processes. He has contributed significantly to understanding microbial spoilage in dairy products and the genetic mechanisms underlying bacterial adaptation and pathogenicity.
