Sidonie Ecochard is a Researcher at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on issues of student estrangement, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and identity formation in higher education. She holds an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Perspectives in Applied Academic Practices.
Her research explores the experiences of estranged students, LGBTQ+ communities in academia, and power dynamics within educational institutions. Key projects include the Queering Estrangement in the (Post) Covid-19 Context and the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences event on estranged students' university experiences.
Ecochard has published works on student estrangement and stigma, as well as reviews of scholarly texts on marginalization in education. She actively participates in academic conferences and has received the Rector’s Scholarship for International Degree Student in 2013.
