Sian Worthen is a Research Fellow at Aston University, affiliated with the School of Psychology and the College of Health and Life Sciences. She specializes in using Magnetoencephalography (MEG) to study cortical processing related to pain perception and neural correlates. As MEG facility manager, she oversees the MEG Approved User Training Programme and supports the Wellcome Trust Laboratory for MEG Studies. Her work combines clinical epilepsy service provision with academic research.
Education: PhD in Neuroscience (Aston University, 2005), BSc Psychology (University of York, 1999). Postdoctoral roles include positions at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Manchester.
Research focuses on pain variability, autonomic nervous system interactions, and psychological phenotypes. She teaches MEG methodologies in the MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience program since 2013. Current projects include interoceptive sensitivity studies and oscillatory dynamics in pain perception.
Clinical experience includes providing MEG services since 2017. Active in professional bodies like the British Psychological Society.
