Sian Hopkins is a Lecturer in Dance (Practice) at Middlesex University's School of Arts, with a career spanning performance, education, and research. She holds a First-Class Honours degree in Dance and an MA in Dance Performance from Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Her research focuses on teaching methodologies that cultivate positive self-perception through dance and the exploration of sacred spaces in performance. She co-founded Kamavera Dance Theatre, emphasizing collaborative creativity and empathy through movement.
Teaching roles include leading modules such as Directed Performance, Creative Performance, and Applied Professional Practice. She also serves as Joint Lead for the ISTD Diploma in Dance Pedagogy, designing CPD programs for dance educators globally. Her work with Moving Visions Dance Theatre (2006–2018) explored the numinous in sacred sites, influencing her educational philosophy.
Her research output, including the 2023 paper "Social value of movement and dance," highlights dance's role in community well-being. She has collaborated internationally, teaching in Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and Canada. Future projects include site-specific performances and screendance collaborations.
