Professor Sian Henson is a Professor in Immunology at Queen Mary University of London's William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. She leads the Translational Medicine & Therapeutics research centre and serves as module lead for Immunology in the Biomedical Sciences BSc program. Her research focuses on T cell metabolism deregulation during human aging and its role in inflammaging. She holds editorial roles at Frontiers of Immunology and chairs the British Society of Immunology's Immune Senescence group.
Education:
- PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London (2000)
Research Interests: Investigates how metabolic changes in senescent T cells sustain chronic inflammation during aging. Key areas include:
- Role of IL-7 in thymic atrophy
- Inhibitory receptors in aging immunity
- Metabolic requirements of CD8+ T cells
