Shumaila Tunio is a Professor of Microbiology at the University of Pikeville (UPIKE), where she teaches courses such as Medical Immunology, Medical Microbiology, and Techniques in Molecular Biology. Her academic background includes a BSc in Microbiology from Kuwait University's Faculty of Science, followed by an MSc and PhD in Medical Microbiology from Kuwait University's Faculty of Medicine. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Her research focuses on developing new diagnostics, drugs, and vaccines for tuberculosis, alongside educational and clinical research.
