Shirin Saberianpour is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devices (CRMD) within the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Brighton. She specializes in regenerative medicine, molecular medicine, and biomaterials-driven therapies. Her research focuses on inflammatory responses, macrophage polarization, wound healing, and tissue regeneration, particularly in intervertebral disc degeneration and diabetic wounds.
Education:
- PhD in Juxtaposition of Mesenchymal Stem Cells with Endothelial Progenitor Cells (2015–2019), Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
- Researcher at Vascular and Endovascular Research Centre, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (2019–2022)
Research Interests:
- Development of theragnostic wound dressings to control cell activities and protein docking
- 3D printed models linking mechanical stress and inflammation in intervertebral disc degeneration
- Role of biomaterials (alginate, gelatin) in angiogenesis and in-vitro models
- Macrophage polarization (M1/M2 phenotypes) in chronic wounds
Teaching & Collaboration:
- Teaches regenerative medicine and biomaterials at the University of Brighton
- Collaborates with over 20 research centers and companies in biomedicine, biophysics, and AI
- Principal investigator on the Biomimetic macromolecular platform for tissue healing project (EPSRC-funded, 2022–2028)
