Shireen Al-Azzawi is a Teaching Professor in the Economics Department at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business and a Research Fellow at the Economic Research Forum (Egypt). She specializes in international economics, economic development, poverty, inequality, and labor economics with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
Al-Azzawi holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, and Master’s degrees from Stanford University and the American University in Cairo. Prior to Santa Clara University, she served as an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo and taught at San Jose State University and UC Davis.
