Linda Kamas is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. Her research focuses on behavioral and experimental economics, particularly examining altruism, gender differences in economic behavior, and the role of empathy. She teaches courses on macroeconomics, economics and justice, and gender in economic decisions.
- Education: PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley; MA in Latin American Studies and AB in History from UCLA.
Her work analyzes how empathy, competitiveness, and confidence influence economic outcomes, especially regarding gender disparities. Recent studies include the impact of empathy on salaries and policy views, and how gender differences in prosocial preferences shape economic decisions.
Publications appear in Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Psychology, and Feminist Economics.
Research also explores social preferences, inequality aversion, and experimental methodologies. Current projects include labor market success factors for women and the intersection of emotions with economic behavior.
