Shira Sue Carmi is a Guess Visiting Professor in Fashion and Fashion Business at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, New York University. She holds a B.A. in Individualized Study from NYU (2002) and an M.B.A. in General Management & Entrepreneurship from Columbia University (2005). Her career spans over 20 years in conceptualizing and growing consumer and retail brands, particularly in fashion and luxury sectors. She currently serves as CEO of Altuzarra, a luxury RTW, handbag, and footwear brand, and previously led Mansur Gavriel as President and co-founded Launch Collective, a management firm for luxury businesses.
Her professional journey began in the art world at galleries like Deitch Projects, followed by roles in marketing and brand management at Banana Republic and Avon Products. Carmi is an active mentor to the CFDA, RAISE Fashion, and the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, and lectures on fashion and entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School, Harvard Business School, FIT, and Parsons. She also serves on the board of the lemlem Foundation, supporting Ethiopian artisans.
