Tim Maudlin is a Professor of Philosophy at New York University, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Science. He holds a visiting professorship (part-time) at the Università della Svizzera Italiana. His research focuses on the foundations of physics, metaphysics, logic, and philosophy of science. He earned a B.A. in Physics and Philosophy from Yale University and a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Key contributions include works on quantum non-locality, relativity, and the metaphysical implications of quantum mechanics. He has authored influential books such as Quantum Non-Locality and Relativity, The Metaphysics Within Physics, and two volumes of Philosophy of Physics. Maudlin is a Guggenheim Fellow and a member of prestigious institutions like the Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences and the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi).
His current projects include developing an alternative topological account of space-time structure and directing the John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics. Maudlin’s work bridges philosophy and physics, addressing conceptual challenges in quantum theory and relativity.
