Shira Pinczuk is a faculty member at the University of Winchester, serving as Head of the Journalism Department within the Faculty of Education and the Arts. She is also a freelance journalist and award-winning filmmaker with expertise in realistic documentary production in conflict zones. Concurrently, she is an AVPHD student at Goldsmiths, University of London, researching filmmaking theory in border contexts.
Research Interests focus on:
- Borders as physical, psychological, and political entities
- Israeli cinema and its relationship to the Zionist-Arab conflict
- Orientalism in media representation
- Documentary ethics in conflict areas
- Status of women in religious minority groups
- Media pedagogy for journalism education
