Shiping Deng

Dr. Shiping Deng is a Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Oklahoma State University (OSU). She holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Iowa State University (1994) and has postdoctoral training in molecular microbiology at Montana State University, Cornell University, and the Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education. Since 1998, she has focused on integrating molecular biology with soil biochemistry to address environmental challenges in soil, water, and sediment systems, particularly evaluating human impacts like waste disposal and agricultural practices at organismal and molecular levels. She teaches courses such as Advanced Soil Microbiology, Soil Bioremediation, and Doctoral Thesis supervision. Her research spans microbial community dynamics, soil enzyme activity, and environmental sustainability, with grants including studies on soil health and antibiotic resistance.
