Shima Kadkhodazadeh is a Senior Researcher at the National Centre for Nano Fabrication and Characterization, part of the NanoPhoton – Center for Nanophotonics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Her research focuses on hyperspectral electron nanoscopy, quantum dot materials, plasmonics, and nanofabrication for photonics applications. She has pioneered work on monolithic integration of III-V nanostructures on silicon, in-situ TEM studies of photocatalysts, and self-assembled photonic cavities with atomic-scale confinement.
Her expertise spans advanced electron microscopy techniques (TEM, STEM, EELS), nanomaterial characterization, and nanoscale fabrication. Key research areas include quantum dot growth kinetics, plasmonic nanoparticle dynamics, and the interplay between materials structure and optical properties. She has supervised multiple PhD projects in nanophotonics, catalysis, and 2D materials, demonstrating strong mentorship in interdisciplinary nanoscience.
Recent work highlights include developing novel methods for III-V/Si integration enabling telecom photonics, elucidating oxidation mechanisms in metal nanoparticles using environmental TEM, and creating scalable plasmonic solar absorbers. Her contributions bridge fundamental materials science with applied nanotechnology for energy and communication systems.
