Dr. Shilpa Dogra is a Professor and Ontario Tech University Research Excellence Chair in Disrupting Human Mobility at the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on mobility patterns, sedentary behavior reduction, and equitable urban design. She leads the Public, Active, Clean, and Equitable (PACE) Mobility group and chairs the Committee for an Age-Friendly University. Her work spans aging populations, healthy cities, and active transportation advocacy, funded by Canada's tri-council agencies (SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC).
Research areas include biomarkers of human physiology, age-friendly community development, and e-bike integration in urban mobility. Collaborations include cross-disciplinary teams at Ontario Tech University and external partners like the University of New Brunswick and University of Lethbridge. Key publications highlight public health strategies for aging populations and cardiovascular health through movement behavior interventions.
Dr. Dogra teaches courses on active aging, exercise physiology, and chronic condition management. She emphasizes translational research to bridge academic work with community impact, particularly in underrepresented communities. Her research has contributed to evidence-based guidelines for physical activity in asthma patients and pediatric chronic disease management.
