Dr. Lucie Lévesque is a Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University. Her research focuses on community-engaged health promotion, particularly within Indigenous and global contexts. She leads the Community-Engaged Health Promotion Research Group and collaborates with Indigenous communities using a CBPR framework. Her work emphasizes ethical research practices, including the Kahnawà:ke Schools Diabetes Prevention Program (KSDPP) and Canada’s Tri Council Policy Statement guidelines.
Education: PhD (Université Laval), MSc (Université Laval), BA (McGill University).
Research interests include program evaluation, implementation science, and culturally responsive health interventions. She has extensive experience in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on physical activity promotion and public health policy. Dr. Lévesque’s grants total over $7M CAD, including CIHR funding for Indigenous health initiatives and global partnerships.
Key projects include mobilizing Indigenous knowledge for wellness, cross-cultural partnerships with Nigeria, and pandemic response efforts. She mentors students through Indigenous-focused opportunities and collaborates with institutions like Public Health Ontario and Diabetes Canada.
