Dr. Lucie Levesque is a Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University, part of the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a BA from McGill University and advanced degrees (MSc/PhD) from Université Laval. Her research focuses on program evaluation and implementation science, particularly in Indigenous communities and global health contexts. She specializes in community-based physical activity interventions, emphasizing ecological approaches and culturally relevant methodologies.
Her research interests include Indigenous health, health equity, public health systems, and gender-based violence prevention. She collaborates with Kahnawake Schools Diabetes Prevention Project and conducts transnational work in Mexico and Latin America. Dr. Levesque teaches courses such as Program Planning and Evaluation, Motivational Interviewing, and Community-Based Programming.
Recent research highlights include studies on immigrant health behavior interventions, park usage safety perceptions, and mentorship programs for Indigenous youth. Her work bridges Western and Indigenous research ethics frameworks, contributing to Canada’s Tri-Council Policy Statement on Indigenous research. Collaborations with Latin American institutions reflect her commitment to global health equity.
Dr. Levesque’s publications span over two decades, addressing topics like physician counseling effectiveness in Mexico, school-based obesity prevention, and environmental health policy.
