Treena Wasonti:io Delormier is an Associate Professor at McGill University's School of Human Nutrition, part of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Nutrition and serves as Director of the Centre for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition & Environment (CINE). Her work focuses on addressing health inequities among Indigenous populations through research on food systems, nutrition, and social determinants of health, employing community-based and participatory methodologies.
Educational Background: BSc (Nutrition) from McGill University; MSc (Nutrition) from McGill University; PhD (Public Health) from Université de Montréal.
Research interests emphasize Indigenous health equity, decolonizing research practices, and interventions to mitigate the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous communities. She is affiliated with the International Union of Nutrition Sciences' Task Force on Traditional, Indigenous and Cultural Food and Nutrition, and the Kahnawake Schools Diabetes Prevention Project research team.
Labs/Teams: Director of CINE, a hub for Indigenous nutrition research and community engagement. She prioritizes capacity-building through student and community researcher mentorship.
