Dr. Hannah Neufeld is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health, Wellbeing and Food Environments at the University of Waterloo's School of Public Health Sciences. She holds adjunct appointments in Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph.
Her community-based research focuses on Indigenous food sovereignty, maternal nutrition, and diabetes prevention in urban settings. Recent publications examine land-based healing practices, food literacy frameworks, and decolonizing curriculum development.
As Canada Research Chair, she leads initiatives on urban Indigenous food environments and intergenerational knowledge transfer. She contributes to UN climate change reports and global nutrition policy through WHO and FAO collaborations.
Dr. Neufeld teaches qualitative research methods and indigenous health courses while mentoring graduate students in community-engaged research approaches.
