Hannah Wittman

Hannah Wittman is a Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with dual appointments in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems (Department of Food, Nutrition and Health) and the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES). Her research focuses on food security, political economy, and food sovereignty, exploring how agrarian reform, seed sovereignty, and institutional procurement contribute to sustainable food systems. Wittman leads initiatives such as the Diversified Agroecosystems Research Cluster and collaborates on projects like the LiteFarm digital platform. She is affiliated with the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm and the Food Sovereignty Research Group.
