Shilan Fuad Hussain is a Senior Research Fellow at Middlesex University specializing in gender studies and cultural analysis. A Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, her work focuses on Kurdish women's rights, violence against women, diaspora identities, and Middle Eastern social policies. She holds a PhD in Cultural Analysis from the University of Urbino.
Her research employs interdisciplinary methods to examine FGM, forced marriages, masculinity impacts, and integration challenges in Kurdish communities across Europe and the Middle East. She has contributed to policy development through NGOs and international organizations.
Hussain has published 18 peer-reviewed articles and presented at 40+ international conferences. Her upcoming book explores Kurdish women's resilience.
