Shiladitya Paul is an Associate Professor and Director of the Materials Innovation Centre (MatIC) at the University of Leicester. With over a decade of industry-focused research experience, he specializes in advanced materials, corrosion mitigation, and specialized coatings. He holds a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge as a Gates Scholar and joined Leicester in 2018 after working at TWI. His professional recognitions include Chartered Engineer (CEng), Life Fellowship with the Cambridge Philosophical Society, and Fellowship of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM).
His research spans industrial applications of coatings and corrosion prevention, with over 100 publications in journals, conference proceedings, and technical articles. He actively contributes to international committees, including the European Federation of Corrosion and NACE, and serves as a judge for the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology (JTST) best paper award.
Paul’s work bridges academic and industrial collaboration, emphasizing methodologies and test protocols adopted by industry. His leadership roles at MatIC and TWI highlight his commitment to advancing materials innovation.
