Professor Sarah Green serves at Lancaster University's School of Engineering, where she was Head of School from 2022-2024. She holds multiple professional distinctions including Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and Fellow of the Women's Engineering Society (FWES) since 2017.
Professor Green's research focuses on strength of materials and the materials cycle, with particular emphasis on sustainable materials use. Her work spans nuclear engineering applications, recycling technologies, and structural composites. She leads research projects in carpet recycling, textile waste solutions, reactor design, and structural elastomeric fixings for railway applications. Her laboratory work centers on the Centre for Global Eco-innovation Structures and Materials at Lancaster University.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on nuclear engineering applications, particularly in reactor fuel analysis and radiopharmaceutical production. These works reflect interdisciplinary research bridging materials science, nuclear engineering, and medical applications, showing consistent advancement in sustainable nuclear technologies and materials characterization.
