Nathan Cooze is an Industrial Lecturer in Engineering at Swansea University within the Materials Science and Engineering department of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. With over 10 years of teaching experience, he combines industrial expertise with academic research in corrosion science and materials engineering.
- Education: BEng (Hons) in Product Design Technology, MRes in Steel Technology (sponsored by Tata Steel), EngD in Materials Engineering (French Corrosion Institute)
Research Interests focus on corrosion mechanisms of metal alloys, particularly galvanized steel and Zn-Al-Mg coatings. His work involves developing novel microscopy techniques for in situ monitoring of corrosion processes and inhibitor effects, contributing to advancements in coating durability and industrial applications.
Publications highlight trends in corrosion inhibition (2019, 2017), alloy microstructure analysis (2019, 2017), and international collaborations (EUROCORR, MICROCORR projects). His scientific awards include:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered Scientist (CSci)
- Professional Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3)
Teaching engagements include modules like Renewable Energy Technologies and Infrastructure (EG-B10) and leadership in the Metal Project, with affiliations to the UK & Ireland Engineering Education Research Network (EERN) and Swansea's Learning & Teaching Enhancement Centre.
