معرفی
Shikhar Mittal is a Research Associate at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, working within the Cavendish Astrophysics group at the Battcock Centre for Experimental Astrophysics. His research centers on observational cosmology and radio astronomy, with dual focuses on detecting the global 21-cm signal from the cosmic dawn and analyzing mid-infrared properties of Active Galactic Nuclei using JWST data.
His educational background includes a PhD from the Department of Theoretical Physics at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India.
Mittal specializes in early-universe cosmology through the REACH (Radio Experiment for the Analysis of Cosmic Hydrogen) collaboration, where he develops radiometer techniques to probe the Epoch of Reionization. Concurrently, his work on AGN diversity leverages JWST/MIRI observations to investigate accretion physics in nearby galactic nuclei, representing cutting-edge infrared astrophysics.
His scientific recognition includes Life Membership in the Astronomical Society of India (ASI) since April 2023.
Mittal actively contributes to the Cavendish Astrophysics research ecosystem through weekly exoplanet seminars and group meetings. As a core REACH collaborator since 2020 under PI Eloy de Lera Acedo, he works within Cambridge's radio cosmology team developing instrumentation for 21-cm signal detection, operating from the Battcock Centre facility at JJ Thomson Avenue.
