Dr Vinesh Maguire Rajpaul serves as a Norman Lockyer Research Fellow within the Cavendish Astrophysics group at the University of Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory, with dual affiliations at Emmanuel College and the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS). His research office is located in Room F05 of the Battcock Centre for Experimental Astrophysics on the University's West Cambridge science campus, part of the Department of Physics' experimental infrastructure.
His research spans exoplanet detection and characterization, radio cosmology through instruments like AMI and SKAO, galaxy formation simulations, and theoretical gravitational physics. These interests align with the Cavendish Astrophysics group's core activities including the REACH experiment for cosmic dawn detection, NGTS exoplanet surveys, and computational cosmology projects utilizing exascale computing resources. His work emphasizes observational techniques and instrumentation development for next-generation telescopes.
Based at the Battcock Centre for Experimental Astrophysics, Dr Rajpaul contributes to a collaborative environment housing multiple research teams focused on cosmic microwave background studies, interferometric array development, and space-based missions including CHEOPS and JWST. The Centre operates as a nexus for experimental astrophysics within the Cavendish Laboratory's broader physics research ecosystem.
