Dr. Shibly Shahrier is a Lecturer in Economics at Teesside University International Business School (TUIBS), where he teaches modules such as Introduction to Macroeconomics and Quantitative Methods in Economics. Previously, he served as Research Faculty at Kyoto University’s Centre for iPS Cell Research and Application (2022–2022), Researcher at RIHN (2020–2022), and Assistant Professor of Economics at BRAC University (2018–2019). He holds a PhD in Economics from Kochi University of Technology (2018) and a Master’s in Public Management from the International University of Japan (2014).
His research focuses on applying behavioral/experimental economics to environmental sustainability, emerging biotechnology, and mechanism design for intergenerational dilemmas. Notable contributions include studies on genome research public opinion in Japan and salinity management in Bangladesh. He has secured external grants, reviewed for top journals, and led consultancies like NetZeroFyer, an AI tool for eco-conscious purchasing.
Dr. Shahrier has been awarded the prestigious University President’s Award for his PhD dissertation. He actively advises self-funded PhD candidates and has contributed to projects such as the UK Power Generation Expansion Socio-economic Impact Assessment.
