Shi-Jie Chen is a Curators' Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Missouri.
Education:
- PhD from University of California San Diego
His research focuses on the statistical thermodynamics and kinetics of RNA and protein folding. His group develops statistical mechanical theories and computational models to predict biomolecular behavior, addressing how molecules fold correctly for function and mis-fold in disease. This work integrates statistical physics, computer simulations, and mathematics to solve fundamental biological challenges.
Professor Chen leads the Shi-Jie Chen Research Group, which has been featured for computational studies of RNA folding mechanisms.
