Dr. Sheryl Boyle is a researcher at Carleton University and director of the CSALT materials research lab. Her work integrates digital and manual fabrication with materiality, focusing on innovative Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) processes for construction systems, biogenic materials, and craft knowledge.
- Key research themes: Digital Design and Fabrication, Circular Economy, Sensory Studies, and Adaptive Reuse
- Recent projects include MITACS grants with ABB Robotics and the Canadian Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute, collaborations with ETH Zürich’s DFAB lab, and industry partnerships in digitally fabricated housing
