Shersingh Joseph Tumber-Dávila is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Dartmouth College, affiliated with the Ecology, Evolution, Environment and Society (EEES) Graduate Program. As an E.E. Just Faculty Fellow, his research focuses on terrestrial ecosystems' response to global environmental change, particularly plant functional traits, carbon cycling, and climate policy implications. He emphasizes justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (JDEIB) in STEM through scholarship and mentorship.

- B.S. in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability, University of New Hampshire (2015)
Research Interests: Investigates plant allometry, climate change impacts on forest carbon sequestration, and nature-based climate solutions. His interdisciplinary work spans field experiments, syntheses, and modeling. Current projects include hurricane impacts on New England forests, root exudate carbon fluxes, and inclusive terminology in ecology.
Teaching & Mentorship: Teaches Forest Ecology and Management and The Control of Nature. Committed to mentoring underrepresented students, he provides funded undergraduate research opportunities and supports federal work-study participants. The lab emphasizes collaborative mentorship and DEI principles.
Grants & Funding: Principal investigator of the Molecular Observation Network (MONet) grant on forest fragmentation and biogeochemical cycling. Secures funding through NSF GRFP, Dartmouth fellowships, and external grants for postdoctoral researchers.
Lab Activities: The Tumber-Dávila Lab operates at sites like Harvard Forest (CLIFF drought experiment) and Fullington Farm. Current projects include invasive Hemlock Woolly Adelgid monitoring, tree stem methane emissions, and the EEB Language Project to reform exclusionary scientific terminology.
