Dr. Sherry Ann Chapman serves as Faculty Service Officer in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Alberta, coordinating the Human Ecology Practicum Program. She holds a PhD in Human Ecology (University of Alberta) and an MMSt in Museum Studies (University of Toronto), complemented by a Professional Human Ecologist (PHEc) designation. Her work bridges academia and community practice, emphasizing reflective learning and ecological resilience. She teaches foundational courses like HECOL 100 and supervises practicum placements, fostering students' transition to professional roles. Previously, she led community-based research initiatives through the Community-University Partnership for the Study of Children, Youth, and Families (CUP).
Research interests include experiential education, resilience frameworks, and interdisciplinary approaches to everyday life studies. Her publications highlight themes of historical legacy in human ecology, CBRE methodologies, and global citizenship. She has facilitated courses across disciplines, including Sociology, Museum Education, and Extension Studies.
