Sherin Guirguis is a Professor of Practice and Chair of Foundation at the University of Southern California’s Roski School of Arts and Design. Her work focuses on recovering marginalized histories through art, using materials, colors, and patterns to engage audiences in dialogues about power and social transformation. Born in Luxor, Egypt, she holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Her research integrates archival studies, community interviews, and materiality to retell forgotten narratives. Key exhibitions include solo shows at the Craft Contemporary Museum of Los Angeles and the American University’s Tahrir Cultural Center, Cairo, alongside participation in events like the Venice Biennale (2016) and Desert X (2017–2018). Her work is in major collections such as LACMA, the Houston Museum of Fine Art, and the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies program.
