Shemine Gulamhusein is an Assistant Professor at the School of Child and Youth Care, University of Victoria (UVic). She holds a BA from the University of Waterloo, and MA and PhD from UVic. Her research focuses on migration narratives, therapeutic recreation, and marginalized communities, employing autoethnography and community-arts-based methodologies. Key projects include exploring Muslim immigrants' recreation practices and Indigenous early learning programs. She teaches with a strength-based approach, emphasizing interdisciplinary and culturally grounded practices.
