Shelley Harris is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Reading's Department of English Literature, part of the School of Humanities. She specializes in themes such as immigration, Britishness, motherhood, and the interconnectedness of human experiences. Her novels Jubilee and Vigilante have been widely recognized, with Jubilee receiving acclaim as a Radio 4 Book at Bedtime and a Richard and Judy book club selection.
Her teaching roles include module convenorships in Creative Writing modules and a Royal Literary Fund Fellowship at the University of Reading. She has also taught at Faber Academy, the Arvon Foundation, and Writers' Centre Norwich.
Harris has been honored with a Society of Authors grant (2022) and a teaching excellence nomination (2023). Her research and creative work explores societal structures and personal narratives, blending literary fiction with critical social commentary.
