Sheldon Roger

Sheldon Roger is a renowned academic and industry leader in the chemical sciences. He currently holds the rank of Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand's School of Chemistry, where he served as Distinguished Professor of Biocatalysis Engineering from 2015 to 2020. Previously, he held a part-time Professorship at Leuven University (2008–2012) and was a Professor of Biocatalysis & Organic Chemistry at Delft University of Technology (1991–2015, emeritus since 2007). His career also includes leadership roles such as CEO and founder of CLEA Technologies (2002–2015) and Vice President R&D at DSM-Andeno (1980–1990).

His research focuses on Biocatalysis, Catalytic oxidation, and Green chemistry, with contributions to sustainable chemical processes. He has pioneered innovations in biocatalytic engineering and environmentally benign synthesis methods.

Sheldon Roger has received numerous accolades, including the 2015 Fellowship of the Royal Society, the 2010 Biocat Award, and the Green Chemistry Presidential Challenge Award.
