Shelah Bloom, ScD, is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina's Gillings School of Global Public Health, affiliated with the Department of Maternal and Child Health. With over 30 years of global experience, she specializes in gender and health, focusing on gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, and HIV/AIDS research and policy evaluation. Currently, she leads a UN Women-supported study on intersectionality and GBV in Central Asia.

Notable work includes a national GBV needs assessment in Lesotho, evaluations of UN violence prevention programs, and development of the EU/UN Spotlight Initiative’s monitoring framework to end violence against women and girls.
