Dr. Shefali Mahesh serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). She holds the prestigious Dr. Noah Miller Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine and maintains a dual leadership role bridging academic medicine and clinical practice at Akron Children's Hospital.
Dr. Mahesh specializes in Pediatric Nephrology with subspecialty interests including Pediatric Hypertension, Kidney Stone Treatment, and Vasculitis. Her clinical expertise is complemented by leadership in value-based pediatric care models and hospital administration. She has developed significant expertise in medical staff leadership, having served as president of Akron Children's Medical Staff and currently chairing the board for the Akron Children's Health Collaborative.
Her professional recognitions include the Dr. Noah Miller Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine. Dr. Mahesh is certified in pediatrics with subspecialty certification in pediatric nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics and maintains active membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, and the International Pediatric Nephrology Association.
Dr. Mahesh continues to see patients regularly, considering her patient-facing days as her "best days" that keep her "centered and grounded." She joined Akron Children's Hospital in 2008 as a pediatric nephrologist and has since held multiple leadership positions including Director of Pediatric Nephrology & Dialysis and Director of Medical Subspecialties.
