Sheena Trimble

Sheena Trimble is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest (UCO) Angers. Her research focuses on women's political engagement in Canadian immigration policies between 1945 and 1967, challenging traditional gender roles and exploring how women influenced public policy. She holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Angers (2015) and a Master's in Social Movements from the University of British Columbia (1991).

Trimble is a member of the Humanities and Societies Research Center (CHUS), the TEMOS/UA laboratory, and the Board of Directors of the French Association for Canadian Studies (AFEC). She has organized major international conferences, including the 47^th AFEC Congress (2024) and events on migration ethics and gender.

Her work emphasizes marginalized voices in migration history, with publications analyzing women's roles in refugee movements, labor migration schemes, and post-WWII humanitarian efforts. She has contributed to interdisciplinary projects like the 'MOBIL' research initiative on mobility and ethics.

Trimble’s research bridges Canadian Studies and gender history, offering critical insights into how women navigated patriarchal structures to shape national policies. Her recent studies include the Hungarian refugee crisis (1956–1958) and the symbolic agency of displaced women.
